Hydraulic Manifold [94,600 triangles]
This model was done in as a favor to a friend in the hydraulic buisness. The job was to photorealistically render the CAD model for use on the company's brochure. I was sent a converted CAD file which I then imported into Maya. Upon import, it was obvious that it would be easier to rebuild from scratch in polygons, as the import came in as Nurbs patches of inconsistant density. The CAD model then served as a precise template for the new poly model. The choice of final camera angles for rendering was unclear, so the inner ports of the manifold were also modeled and every surface was beveled in detail, thus resulting in and extremely high poly count for such a simple design.
